State of North carolina Washington County know all men by these presents that I Charles N. Mason of the county and State afore Said for and in consideration of the Sum of fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Joshua Twiddy, the receipt where of is here by acknowledg have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Twiddy and his heirs and assigns for ever a Certain track of land in Said County known formaly as ?finikings Island with Some adjoining Swamp-Beginning at Alvey Davenports- South East corner running thence north one hundred and seventy five pole thence east one hundred and seventy pole thence [sentence missing here] thence west one hunddred and sixty pole to the first station Containing fifty acers more or less to have and to hold the above premises with the apirtanances unto the said Twiddy and his heirs and assigns for Evere and I the aid Mason will warrant and defend the above premises with the appurtanances from me and my heirws and assigns unto him the said Twiddy and his heirs and assigns for Ever in witness where of I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this the 18th day of January 1864
