 This Indenture made and entered into this the twenty-eight day of July in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty one by and between Margaret Bateman widow of Joshua B. Bateman, Andrew J. Bateman, Zerinda J. Bateman, King D. Z. Bateman, William M. L. Bateman, Addison I. Bateman, Jane F. Manley, Thomas E. Thompson and wife Sophronia L. Thompson, and Daniel W. Manley who acts in this deed for himself and under a power of attorney from the other parties, and by whom as their attorney they herein act, all of the first part and Isaac B. Bateman and Joshua B. Davenport of the second part. Witnesseth that the parties of the first part being the heirs at law of Joshua B. Bateman, for and [in] consideration of the sum of Five hundred Dollars to the parties of the first part in hand paid by the parties of the second part the receipt of which in full is hereby acknowledged, have bargained sold and delivered and do hereby bargain sell and deliver to said parties of the second part their heirs and assigns forever, a certain part of a tract or parcel of land lying, being and situated in the county of Washington State of North Carolina and known as follows (viz) A tract called the Poplar Island tract left by Robert Davis to Zepheniah Davis who afterward died intestate. The part of this tract herein conveyed is Eighty-two acres more or less, it being the part which was allotted to Nancy Davis in division, this eighty two acres being the same land which was conveyed by Nancy Davis to Joshua B. Bateman by deed dated 2 May 1821-To have and to hold the said tract of land to them the said Isaac B. Bateman and Joshua B. Davenport their heirs and assigns forever-

 And the said parties of the first part do herein and hereby bind themselves that a good title in fee simple passes by this deed and they will forever warrant and defend the same against the claims against all persons. And the said Daniel W. Manly [sic] in particular doth hereby bind himself that a good and perfect deed conveying the title to the aforesaid land in fee simple to the parties of the second part shall hereafter be executed either by the parties owning said land or by the Clerk and Master in Equity for Washington County
