This Indenture made and entered into this the 7th day of march Anno Domani 1838. Between William Furlough of the Couty of Washington and State of North Carolina of the one part, and Maxim. Tatum and Alexander H. Davenport, both of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & five dollars to me paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged myself satisfied and paid, the said William Furlough hath granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain & sell to the said Maximilian Tatum and Alexander H. Davenport the following two tracts or parcels of Land herein described, lying and being in the County of Washington and State of North Carolina, The one butted and bounded as follows to wit, beginning at a beach on the west side Stantons Island, thence north 70 East 44 poles, thence across the patent along a line of marked trees to the said patent line, thence binding on said patent along a line of marked trees to said patent line to the first station, containing by estimation twenty five acres be the same more or less. The other tract butted and bounded as follows, beginning at a Laurel, thence across the Land along a line of marked trees to the patent line, thence the various courses of the old parent round to the first station, containing by estimation twenty five acres be the same more or less, Together with all the privileges and appurtenances and advantages thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold, the above mentioned two tracts or parcels of Land to the said Maximilian Tatam [sic] and Alexander H. Davenport to them their heirs and assigns forever, and I the said William Furlough for myself my heirs, administrators, executors and assigns doth convenant and agree to forever warrant and defend the right and title to the above mentioned premises to the said Maximilian Tatam and Alexander H. Davenport there [sic] heirs administrators, executors & assigns against the claim or lawful demands of all persons watsoever.-In Witness whereof the said William Furlough doth hereunto set his hand and affirm his seal, the day and date above riten-
