This Indenture made the 29 day of December in the year of our Lord 1834. Between Jos W. Tarkenton of the one part & Alexander H. Davenport of the other part, the former of the County of Tyrrell & the latter of Washington and both of the state aforesaid, Witnesseth, That for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and sixty six dollars and fifty six cents to me in hand by the aford A.H. Davenport, the receipt whereof I do herein acknowledge myself fully satisfied and contented have granted, bargained and sold unto the afrd A.H. Davenport, his heirs and assigns a certain piece or parcel of Land, situate lying and being in the County of Washington on the West side of Scuppernong River, and butted and bounded as follows, viz. Beginning at a Holly A.H. Davenport's and the heirs of Elias Olivers corner, thence South 70 poles along said Olivers line to the mouth of the road of the Heirs of Aaron Spruill decd to within 6 feet of the road leading to the I'd Plantation, then along said road the same distance from it South 84 West one hundred and one poles & a half thence No 4 East Seventy Nine and a half poles to an old line formerly the old poplar Island Plantation line, belonging to the Heirs of Zephaniah Davis, thence along said line N. 86 East Ninety five and a half poles to the first Station-containing by estimation Forty Eight Acres more or less-To have and to hold, the above named premises together with all the appurtenances, hereditaments & improvements in any way belonging unto the aforesaid A.H. Davenport, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns forever. And I the said Jos W. Tarkenton do Warrant and defend the same from any claims of myself and Heirs-In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my hand and seal-day and date above Written-
