Washington Co NC was formed in 1799 from Tyrrell County NC
It is bounded by: Bertie, Beaufort, Hyde, Martin and Tyrrell counties
The courthouse is located in Plymouth, NC and was burned in 1862, 1869 & 1873. Deed records survived all the fires and are intact from 1799 to present. Marriage records are available from 1851 to present. Court minutes for the superior court start in 1822. Most other records begin in 1873 after the last fire. Birth & Death recording began in 1913 and records are at the courthouse.

Last page on my microfilm copy is 18A (missing schedules for slaves and trades, etc) - next page is 26A which is the totals for the county. Note on the title page states: "The schedules for Washington county are continued on the reverse of pages 18 & 26. The reverse sides have no page numbers. Pages 19-25 and 27-45 are filmed with Warren county on roll 372"
There were no Ambrose names found on the above pages in Warren Co and I could not locate the schedules for page 18

One of the family names found in Washington Co NC is the name Spruill. I am assuming that this name is Spruill
