Land Legal Description

Every piece of land must be identifiable as a unique piece of property. The description of the land that makes is identifiable is called a Legal Description and is required on all deeds.

In metes & bounds areas this Legal Description combines the physical features of the land with one or more measuring means (chains, links, rods, degrees, etc.) to produce a description of the land that is unique to that individual piece of property.

In public domain areas the legal description is made up of the location of the property within a section, the Section, Township and Range numbers and the appropriate Median of the original survey.
