Message for Nancy Royce from Dave Goodman (Dgoodman@comcast.net): " William Terry Davenport married Elizabeth M. who married in Mar 1807 to Zachariah Goodman. William T. and Elizabeth M. had two children: Louisa who married Henry Colquit and William B. who married Sally Goodman, daughter of Noten Goodman. I have found nothing in the Cumberland records that leads me to Elizabeth M. being the daughter of William B. McNamar and Elizabeth Davenport. If anyone has anything please let me know. The 1805 deed of Elizabeth M. Davenport makes it seem that she was Elizabeth Ballow a daughter of Charles Ballow. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~haas/genealogy/davenportwmva.htm
        Elizabeth Moss Ballou was the daughter of Charles Ballou and his wife Rebecca. It is not know when she was born. She was first married to William Terry Davenport, for a brief period, Abt. 1798, which bore them two children;
        William B. Davenport b. 18 October 1800, married Sarah J. Goodman, daughter of Noton Goodman on 23 April 1823, and died 14 February 1824 in St. Augustine, FL. of TB.
        Louisa Anne Davenport b. Unknown, married Henry Colquitt on 3 December 1821, .Surety on the bond was Zachariah Goodman.
        I have since found more evidence to prove Elizabeth M. surname as stated very clearly in the following Order Book; 28 Jan 1803 (Cumb. Co. OB p. 354) William T. Davenport and Elizabeth his wife who was Elizabeth Moss Ballow daughter of Charles Ballow dec'd. agst. William Taylor guardian of William Henry Ballow, Sally H. Ballow and Charles Ballow infant children of Charles Ballow de'cd
        I guess it was my misinformation that lead to the McNamar confusion, but that was many years ago.
        I would like to further discuss this connection with you. Dave

MY QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

William Davenport, son of Thomas of Cumberland, was born 1733/1734 according to a deposition in 1774. His wife was Anne. The children named in his will of 1793 were Elizabeth Smith wife of William Ballow, Thomas Foster, William Terry, Alexius Mader, Hannah Glenn, and Ann Gander.

Elizabeth Smith Davenport married William Ballow before 1 July 1784 and she died in 1827. Her will names children John S. Ballow, Nancy wife of Samuel Wallace, William B., and Elizabeth wife of Hez. Ford.

Thomas Foster Davenport was born by 1771 and died between 1806 and 1810. His wife Rebecca married John Colquit in Oct 1820. They had three known children: Ann who married William Ligon, Charles, and Mary who married a Hobson.

Alexius Mader (Meador) Davenport died by May 1829 and may have had no issue.

William Terry Davenport married Elizabeth M. who married in Mar 1807 to Zachariah Goodman. William T. and Elizabeth M. had two children: Louisa who married Henry Colquit and William B. who married Sally Goodman, daughter of Noten Goodman.

Charles Ballow died in 1767 naming wife Temperance Bailey and children William (married Elizabeth Smith Davenport), Anna (married 1770 William Pollock), Charles (married Rebecca), Thomas, John, Jesse and Mary. Charles inherited the land on Appomatox River. Charles and Rebecca had Elizabeth M. Davenport, Charles, and William.
